Jadu Heart's new album Hyper Romance is their second album, following last year's Melt Away. Having moved to Bristol they quickly followed up on their debut by retreating to their new basement studio to write the bones of the forthcoming sophomore album. The resulting project blends raw, energetic psych-rock with sonic healing and displays the versatility of the band.
‘Like a few songs from the album, it’s about growing older,” explain Jadu Heart (Alex Headford and Diva Jeffrey). “When we met, we would spend a lot of time locked away with the common symptoms of a confused teenager going through an existential crisis. We’ve calmed down a lot now.” The record is largely based on the interplay between calm and chaos. Sitting on the calmer side of the album, Walk The Line has pared-back beat and bass provide a perfect canvas for Jeffrey’s airy vocals, similarly with tracks like Caroline and Day By Day. Contrastingly Suddenly I Know Who You Are and Dead, Again are built around grungey guitar riffs that display the more chaotic side of the album.
