Max Cooper - In Surround Sound @ Shapes | 14th May
When searching for something in May that was a bit outside the box and unconventional there was only one I had in mind. Scrap your predictable house nights, ignore the in vogue ‘dark techno’ scene and come to Max Cooper’s experimental surround sound experience. This guy has been around the block incorporating thoughtful, emotional music to his production and sets alike. If you like Burial, Nils Frahm, Rival Consoles, Boards Of Canada or anything ambient or dubby with a beat you will love what Max Cooper has in store for us come May 14th.
What is the Surround Sound you may ask? Well its 16 podiums, 4x4 dotted equally around the club each with it’s only spherical high tech speaker system. Max will not only be selecting tracks to play but he will also be controlling the frequencies and directions on each individual speaker so he has complete control over the sound making you completely immersed the way he wants you to be. Watch this video to get a better ideA. In this case the brilliant new warehouse space Shapes in Hackney takes the dive for this event which will sell out. Supporting Max is Guy Andrews, whose brilliant albums ‘Our Spaces’ I wrote about as record of the week a while back, and melodic techno genius Aiden Doherty. For all you people wanting something different from your standard fist pumping house night, I implore you to go to this.
