junction 2 @ boston manor park | 4th june

On the 4th of June, the YO crew will be descending on Boston Manor Park for Junction. The location, we have been assured, synergises between gorgeous park landscapes, rambling rivers and abstract industrial architecture. One stage will be positioned underneath an overpassing road, where as others will by contrast will be set up within the surrounding woodlands. The promoters have promised first rate production, London’s finest drink & street-food as well one of the finest line-ups to grace the city this year so far. Drumcode, The Hydra & Closer will all be hosting stages.

Found Festival @ Brockwell Park | 11th June

Of a few one-day festivals held in Brixton this summer, Found has a good claim to be the finest. With legends such as Derrick May and Kerri Chandler headlining the main stage, techno giants Blawan, Surgeon and Rodhad invited to the second stage by Find Me In The Dark and the gods of garage-house themselves, Mood II Swing, this the 120bpm aficionado's dream. Secretsundaze maybe trump the lot though, bringing a trio of Detroit's finest selectors including the one and only Theo Parrish - miss at your peril!

Way Back Here with Huerco S. @ Dance Tunnel | 24th June

Way Back Here is a radio show on NTS and a bi-monthly night held at Dalston’s legendary Dance Tunnel run by Luke Hopper & Anthony Mooney. Both on the airwaves and in the basement the team has promoted the best upcoming house and techno artists, showcasing the more innovative side of club music.

In April, Dance Tunnel sadly announced it is to close doors in August – yet another independent late-night venue to fall victim to London’s increasingly harsh licensing laws. This will be one of the first of many heroic send-off parties at Dance Tunnel this summer. It is also WBH’s last after almost 4 years of incredible bookings including, Shanti Celeste, DJ Guy, Terekke, Greg Beato, Pariah, Matrixxman, Max D, Leon Vynehall, A Made Up Sound, Maurice Fulton, Alexander Nut, Randomer, Funkineven, Kowton, Elgato, plus many more.

For their send-off at Dance Tunnel they’ve book Kansas City’s Huerco S. for the 24th June. The man behind the alias, Brain Leeds, is known for his diverse sounding tracks on Opal Tapes, Future Times and Anthony Naples’ Proibito, which mostly reside in the non-functional, low-fi and down-tempo spectrum of house music. Brian Leeds drops his eagerly anticipated ambient album on Proibito on the 6th June – read his FACT interview on it here.

The on-going closure of late night venues around London has a huge impact on not only club owners and their staff, but effectively ruins promoters and artists’ business too. With several years affiliated to Dance Tunnel, and no current plans to move, the extent of the club’s pending closure has left the nights like WBH with an uncertain future. In light of comments made to Dazed magazine (read here), we hope Sadiq Kahn’s recent nomination as London’s Mayor may bring about a brighter future for the city’s club culture.

Expect this to be an emotive and intimate night curated by a team who endorse all the right elements in club culture, with passionate resident DJs playing a farewell to their home club, and a headliner who’ll offer an intriguing set of diversity and intensity. Tickets are from 8 pounds. Support from DJ-Set and the Way Back Here residents: DJ Laizi, Anthony Mooney and Shango.
